When technology really does know better

Not referring to computers, handheld electronics, etc. Instead, yesterday morning, I started my morning routine of "attending to Austin's milk" (ahem) and the darn pump stopped working! I figured out that the pump itself is fine, thank goodness [I test substituted my cordless drill's AC adaptor] but the Medela AC adaptor was blown. That is ok, that I can replace and it doesn't ruin my aspiration of a future Craigs List sale, I'll throw in a new working power supply. I am certain our house has some electrical "issues" and I left it plugged in for many days, and bam.. it's shot. It lived well- sustained so many uses for both kids' nursing tenures. Old faithful.

What I find ironic is that there are 3.. THREE... tres... more days until said child turns 1 yr old and pumping br.milk then becomes a non-issue. So, is this my sign that really, even just a few days short of #1 bday, I did fulfill what I set out to do- nurse both kids to their 1st bday? I guess so. I just would've liked to say I made it. I'll make it w/o use of the pump, which still counts. I find it kind of amusing that there have been signs all along over the past month or so, that it was time to give it up. And I've refused to out of pure stubborn streak. The finish line is in sight. Technology had to get its voice in there, didn't it?

Speaking of Austin's bday.. haven't bought him a present yet. Not one. Ok, one but that isn't even from us, it's a "proxy" gift from his aunt/uncle/cousin. Is because kid needs nothing and not of the age yet to want anything. I'll think of something. I'll leave soon and go to the gym & chores and now to toy store. His gift is his small-ish party Sat, and trip to GA in upcoming weeks. He'll love reading that rationale in his baby book in years to come. "Got NOTHING from my parents for my 1st bday." But that is what grandparents are for, right? I could wrap the little box for the new pump AC adaptor and set that as a gift? Because really, it comes full circle for what I did for him for 363 days (not that I was counting), biting and all?

Oh, I love you Sauce, Gordo, or whoever you are. It has been a WONDERFUL first year.

That is too funny - electrical out w/ 3 days to go - totally still counts! I don't remember buying Fi much for her bday either - my aunt always told the kids that their party was the gift - i like that. but i want to be able to buy a gift when i want to too... hmmm anyway, Happy Bday Gordito (sent w/ love) :-) xoxx C, T, Fi and G.

Thanks for challenging me to create a picture link! I have tried to post it and post it as a comment but can't quite get it to work right. It is the picture of Magdalena by herself on the right side of my blog if you are able to copy it. Let me know if it works!
